Cloudy Hodge Park Engagement Session | Kansas City Engagement Photos
I know what you’re thinking: don’t clouds ruin photos?
In a word, nah.
Clouds only filter light, so it’s never going to be too dark to photograph. You know how windows filter light into your house, and you rarely have harsh lighting or shadows anywhere? Clouds do the same thing but to the earth. So by filtering the light, it’s softer on the skin and reduces squinting or harsh under-eye shadows.
So when Morgan and I planned this session and clouds were in the forecast, I was actually more excited because the light was going to be much easier to work with!
Morgan and Cody are like magnets to each other. They spent a while almost getting together but nothing quite worked out until fall of 2018 when the universe lined up for them in the right way. Two years later, Cody popped the question, and the planning began! Morgan knew what she wanted for her wedding already, so here we are one month after getting engaged and 95% of her wedding is completely planned and ready to go. (talk about a potential side business, right??)
We chatted about so many different location ideas before deciding on Hodge Park! This park is actually home to the Shoal Creek Living History Museum, so we had a lot of neat buildings to use in their photo session. It was actually about 32 degrees when we shot these photos, but I made sure these two stayed nice and snuggly, so you’d never even know.
We hopped, skipped, and jumped all around the park, the bison and cows gave us some weird side-eye, and we popped some champagne to celebrate their engagement! This is now the second time I’ve been lucky enough to photograph these two, so they knew exactly how to rock their session, and they were super down for all the fun and silly poses I put them in. It may have been literally freezing outside, but these two and their love make the day look so warm and snuggly. Plus, clouds for your engagement session means sunshine on your wedding day, right??
Are you ready to knock your own engagement session out of the park? Get in touch and let’s do this!
Destiny and Todd and I went on an adventure up to Mt. Charleston and boy what an adventure we had! Read about our day and the lovely area of Mt. Charleston.
