Zion National Park Proposal Photography

Now THIS was the sneakiest I have ever been as a proposal photographer. Alyssa, who’s also an amazing photographer that you should check out here, booked a destination session with me in Zion National Park in southern Utah. Originally, she told me this was just going to be your standard, run of the mill, couples session, featuring her amazing and sweet boyfriend Paul! These two had known each other since they were little, but only reconnected as adults. Little did Alyssa know that Paul had some trickery up his sleeve.

Once we booked our couples session, Paul logged into his mom’s Instagram account to message me that he was planning to propose to Alyssa during this session. We figured out what prompt we would use, as well as a good location overlooking the canyon. When the moment came, Paul was BEYOND excited to surprise her, and she truly had no idea. Alyssa said after the proposal that Paul had been leading her to believe that they weren’t getting engaged anytime soon. From blaming ring prices to the costs of weddings to all the things life was throwing at them, he had her convinced that they were in no rush to get married.

Alyssa’s reaction to this surprise proposal made it all completely worth it. She dropped almost immediately and began tearing up. Paul was beaming, knowing that he had completely surprised her. And then on top of all of that, he gave her the most gorgeous ring ever!

And honestly, what’s better than a backdrop like Zion National Park??

The sun faded behind the mountains as these two joyfully ran through the street, soaking up all the moments of being freshly engaged. Then, we surprised them with a picnic set up as their first date as fiancés. Alyssa handled this session like a champ, considering how cold she was – but you’d never know when she’s snuggled up to her forever!
