Valley of Fire Las Vegas Engagement Session
Valley of Fire is one of the most insanely cool state parks that Nevada offers, and how lucky am I that it’s a quick one-hour drive from Las Vegas?
Valley of Fire was first established as an official park in 1935. It boasts 40,000 acres of absolute beauty, and is home to 25 incredible (and easy) hiking trails. You seriously don’t want to miss this park if you have a free afternoon in Vegas.
When it comes to photographing in this gorgeous spot, things can be just a wee bit trickier. Permits are required and since it’s a protected area, you can only photograph in so many locations. But that doesn’t mean we can’t get some absolutely stunning photos anyway!
For this beautiful session, we hung around the petroglyphs trail and the Rainbow Vista overlook. We met up at sunrise, so we had some lovely, even lighting for the majority of the session. With the mountains blocking the sun from shining directly on the pretty areas, we get to really take our time with the photos without feeling rushed. Additionally, when photographing at sunrise, you will rarely have anyone in your background since most of the traffic at Valley of Fire doesn’t arrive until mid-morning.
Jenny and Joey were a dream to work with, even if we did have to be up WAY before the sun. And props to them for chowing down on pizza at 6 a.m. – breakfast of champions!
