Pittsburgh Forest Elopement | Pennsylvania Intimate Wedding

This wedding was A LONG TIME COMING.

Like I know a lot of couples nowadays are opting to have longer engagements and enjoy that time together, but these two had been engaged for about four years when they finally tied the knot. (side note: peep their cute engagement photos here!)

During the eight years together, they planned a wedding, planned a second wedding (thanks, ‘rona), did years of long distance, secured multiple higher ed degrees, and ultimately became inseparable. Plenty of people say they believe in soulmates. Heck, I know I do. But when I listened as Kelsey and Brett each said their own vows to each other, that belief was solidified. These two, somehow, wrote nearly identical vows without consulting each other, and they both ended their vows with the phrase, “I love you and I like you.”

To make it even sweeter, when Brett proposed to Kelsey, he used the phrase, “I’m thinking about my future.”

If you’re a die-hard Parks and Rec fan like me, you’ll get why this is so special. I even have goosebumps now as I’m writing about it. *sobs*

ANYWAY. So Rona hit and Kelsey was really concerned about the danger considering their older family members. We postponed their big grand wedding to next year, but after a 4 year engagement, it was time to do the dang thing.

So this Las Vegas wedding photographer packed her bags and hopped on a plane to Pittsburgh! Yep, I finally bounced all the way over to the east coast. Being a destination wedding photographer has taken me to so many places, and I’m so grateful to have finally been able to get to the east coast, especially for these two cuties.

We started the day by meeting up at Point State Park for some “last moments engaged” kinda photos with the star of the show, Ellie. Then headed back to Kelsey and Brett’s home to get ready. After the dress was on and the details were finalized, we met up at Frick Park for their ceremony! Their officiant, Tony, delivered quite the speech, everybody cried a whole bunch (including me), and then we jetted back to their home for their backyard reception!

Truly, I am beyond grateful for these two and the trust they gave me to document their day. This really was an incredible “first annual wedding” for Kelsey and Brett, and I cannot wait to see them again next year!
