Black's Beach San Diego Anniversary Photos

My job is so cool because of all the incredible places it takes me to. One of said places is California. And with California being such a huge state, it’s almost guaranteed that I’ll always be photographing somewhere new.

And that’s where we find Black’s Beach! Located just north of San Diego near Torrey Pines, this location is absolutely incredible for any engagement or elopement photos. But there are a few things you need to know before heading out to this sunny beach:

• This beach is clothing optional. It’s unlikely you’ll see anything hanging out so close to the parking lot, but just be aware!

• There’s a pretty big hike down a cliffside to get to the water. Be prepared, take your time, and make sure you bring a light to get yourself back up after the sun sets.

• There’s a glider port take-off at the top of the cliff. You’re not supposed to use it because people have lost their lives in this area, but it does exist.

• The waves are pretty (to use a California term) gnarly here! There will more than likely be surfers everywhere.

And now that we have that information out of the way, enter Sarah and Micah, aka the cutest cuties that have ever cute-ed.

Sarah and Micah got engaged in 2017 and married shortly after, just before Micah’s marine service began – you know how those military marriages go! But their love runs so much deeper than that. After an injury and Micah’s honorable discharge, these two grew even stronger. They were finally able to celebrate their marriage with a wedding in 2021, while also commemorating one year of Micah being cancer-free! So to celebrate these milestones, we headed back to where they did their wedding photos for some anniversary images! These two were so stinkin’ in love that you’d never know they faced so many challenges together. That’s what marriage is all about, and I can honestly say that these two are an inspiration!

We slowly hiked our way up the cliff as these two watched the sun set together over their beautiful city. The colors were just absolute insanity, as they changed each moment. California, man. I get the hype.
